For The Littles
Baby Ballet (30 min. 2.5 -4 yrs): Develops basic coordination and dance vocabulary through creative movement and storytelling.
Pre-Ballet/Tap (45 min. 4.5-6 yrs): An introductory class to the basics of both ballet and tap.
Dance/Gym Combo (45 min. 4.5-6 yrs): A 20-minute creative movement class followed by a 20-minute tumbling class.
Ballet
A HIGHLY TECHNICAL AND ARTISTIC DANCE FORM USING PRECISE AND HIGHLY FORMALIZED SET STEPS AND GESTURES, CHARACTERIZED BY LIGHT, GRACEFUL, FLUID MOVEMENTS. BALLET IS THE FOUNDATIONAL FORM FROM WHICH ALL OTHER DANCE STYLES HAVE DEVELOPED. IT REQUIRES STRONG TECHNIQUE, ATHLETICISM, AND GRACE.
Mini Ballet (55 min. 6-9 yrs): A beginner-level class for those new to ballet or those working on improving their technique. Must be 6 as of August 1st and have taken at least 1 year of dance.
Junior Ballet (55 min. 9-11 yrs): A beginner/intermediate level class for those working on improving their technique. A skill evaluation is required for younger students to enroll in this class.
Pre-Apprentice Ballet (55 min. 11-13 yrs): A beginner/intermediate-level class for those who have taken ballet before and are working on perfecting their technique. A skill evaluation is required for younger students to enroll in this class.
Apprentice Ballet (55 min. 13-15 yrs): An intermediate-level class for those ready to start adding more complex movements. A skill evaluation is required for younger students to enroll in this class.
Senior Ballet (85 min. 16-18 yrs): An advanced class for students with strong technique. A skill evaluation is required for younger students to enroll in this class.
Pre-Pointe 1 (55 min. 8-11 yrs): A class designed to strengthen the feet and ankles, along with teaching proper alignment and technique in preparation for pointe shoes. Students must also be enrolled in Jr. or Pre-Ap. Ballet.
Pre-Pointe 2 (55 min. 12+ yrs): A class designed to strengthen the feet and ankles, along with teaching proper alignment and technique in preparation for pointe shoes. Students must also be enrolled in Ap. or Sr. Ballet.
Pointe (55 min. 12+ yrs): DANCERS MUST PASS OUR PRE-POINTE PROGRAM AND BE APPROVED BY A PHYSICAL THERAPIST PRIOR TO GOING EN POINTE! Students must be taking senior ballet simultaneously.
Tap
INVENTED BY WILLIAM HENRY LANE, TAP IS A STYLE OF DANCE CHARACTERIZED BY USING METAL TAPS ON THE HEELS AND TOES OF TAP SHOES TO STRIKE THE FLOOR, CREATING RHYTHMS.

Jazz
THIS STYLE ORIGINATED FROM AFRICAN AMERICAN SOCIAL DANCING DURING THE 1920'S. IT IS CHARACTERIZED BY ISOLATIONS, GROUNDED MOVEMENT, SYNCOPATION, CONTRACTIONS, AND A DASH OF SPICINESS.
Mini Jazz (55 min. 6-9 yrs): A beginner-level class for those new to jazz or those working on improving their technique. Must be 6 as of August 1st and have taken at least 1 year of dance.

Acro
A COMBINATION OF CLASSICAL DANCE TECHNIQUE WITH PRECISION ACROBATIC ELEMENTS. CHARACTERIZED BY ATHLETICISM AND CHOREOGRAPHY THAT SEAMLESSLY BLENDS DANCE AND ACROBATICS. WE ARE AN ACROBATIC ARTS CERTIFIED STUDIO AND FOLLOW THE ACROBATIC ARTS CURRICULUM. LEVELS ARE SKILL-BASED, NOT AGE-BASED. STUDENTS MUST TAKE AN EXAM TO PROGRESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
Level 1 (55 min.): A beginner-level class for those new to Acro
Level 2 (55 min.): A serious beginner-level class. Must pass Exam 1.
Level 3 (55 min. 7+): A beginner to intermediate-level class. Must pass Exam 2
Level 4 (55 min. 7+): An intermediate-level class. Must pass Exam 3
Level 5 (55 min. 8+): An intermediate to advanced-level class. Must pass Exam 4

Hip Hop
THIS STYLE OF DANCE WAS DEVELOPED ALONGSIDE HIP HOP MUSIC, AND WITHOUT A FORMAL STRUCTURE. IT IS CHARACTERIZED BY ISOLATIONS, POPPING, LOCKING, BREAKING, AND FREESTYLE. IT IS CONSTANTLY EVOLVING AND DEEPLY INTERTWINED WITH THE HIP HOP CULTURE.

Jazz Funk
A HYBRID OF HIP HOP AND JAZZ DANCE. ORIGINATING IN THE 1980'S PRIMARILY WITHIN MUSIC VIDEOS. IT IS A VERY UPBEAT AND PRECISE STYLE THAT APPEALS TO "DIVA" SENSIBILITIES. CHOREOGRAPHY IS DOMINATED WITH ISOLATIONS, BODY ROLLS, FOOTWORK, AND VOGUEING.

Contemporary
AN EXPRESSIVE STYLE OF DANCE THAT ABANDONS THE CENTERED ASPECT OF CLASSICAL FORMS, AND UTILIZES UNCONVENTIONAL MOVEMENTS FROM STYLES AROUND THE WORLD. IT INCORPORATES ELEMENTS OF BALLET, MODERN, JAZZ, AND HIP HOP. CHARACTERIZED BY EMPHASIZING MOVEMENT, CONTRASTING RYTHMS, THE USE OF BREATH, AND FLOOR WORK.
Mini Contemporary (55 min. 6-9 yrs): A beginner-level class for those new to contemporary or those working on improving their technique. Must be 6 as of August 1st.
Junior Contemporary (55 min. 9-1 1yrs): A serious beginner-level class for those working on improving their technique. A skill evaluation is required for younger students to enroll in this class.
Pre-Apprentice Contemporary (55 min. 11-13 yrs): A beginner to intermediate-level class that starts to incorporate complexity. A skill evaluation is required for younger students to enroll in this class.
Apprentice Contemporary (55 min. 13-15 yrs): An intermediate-level class that moves at a fast pace. A skill evaluation is required for younger students to enroll in this class.
Senior Contemporary (55 min. 16-18 yrs): An advanced class for students with strong technique. A skill evaluation is required for younger students to enroll in this class.
Other Classes
Musical Theater 1 (55 min. 8-10 yrs): Story-focused and character-driven movement while singing and acting. Choreography is often exaggerated and quirky. This class is for the triple-threat (students that can sing, dance, and act).
Musical Theater 2 (55 min. 11-18 yrs): Story-focused and character-driven movement while singing and acting. Choreography is often exaggerated and quirky. This class is for the triple-threat (students that can sing, dance, and act).
Acting (55 min. 8-18 yrs): An expressive art form of telling a story by enacting a character via movement, gesture, and intonation. Introduces students to basic acting techniques including improv, mime, movement, scene study, cold reading, and character development.
Ballroom (55 min. 8-18 yrs): Students will learn cha-cha, salsa, waltz, etc. This is not a partnering class.
Private Lessons
On Center Performing Arts offers private lessons in any style and any level of dance, acting, and singing. Private lessons are perfect for students wanting one on one time with a skilled instructor to perfect technique, improve specific moves, and have a solo uniquely created for them which they will perform at OCPA’s annual recital. In order to perform a solo or duet at recital, students need to have a recurring weekly lesson starting in September.
Private lessons are either half an hour per week or 1 hour per week depending on one’s needs. They are scheduled according to instructor and student availability. Please email Lindsey@mismogymnastics.com to set up your private lesson.
Dress Code
PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD IS DRESSED APPROPRIATELY FOR CLASS. WHAT WE WEAR TO DANCE IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS OTHER SPORTS, SUCH AS SOCCER/FOOTBALL UNIFORMS. IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD THE CORRECT ATTIRE, PLEASE REACH OUT TO US.
Baby Ballet: Any color leotard and tights, ballet shoes, hair pulled back.
Pre-Ballet/Tap: Any color leotard and tights, ballet shoes, tap shoes, hair pulled back (in bun if possible).
Dance/Gym Combo: Any color leotard, hair pulled back, bare feet.
Ballet (all levels): Any color leotard and tights, ballet shoes, hair in bun, skirt and/or warm-ups optional with instructor approval.
Pre-Pointe: Any color leotard and tights, hair in bun, ballet shoes.
(Pointe shoes are only to be worn after successfully completing our program, with approval from the instructor, director, and a physical therapist. Pointe shoes must be properly fitted with instructor/director guidance).
Tap (all levels): Clothing that is easy to move in, tap shoes with socks, hair pulled back.
Jazz (all levels): Clothing that is easy to move in, Apolla Shocks, bare feet, or instructor preference, hair pulled back.
Contemporary (all levels): Clothing that is easy to move in, Apolla Shocks, bare feet, or instructor preference, hair pulled back.
Acro (all levels): Any color leotard, spandex leggings/shorts, bare feet, hair pulled back.
Hip Hop and Jazz Funk (all levels): Clothing that is easy to move in, clean sneakers (these should not be worn outside).
Musical Theater: Clothing that is easy to move in.
Acting: Whatever you want! No street shoes in the studios!
